This was a "Day of Dolcetto." First, there was Eric Asimov's New York Times article about Dolcetto. Then, at Corsino Cantina, I tried 2 Dolcettos. The Gillardi Dolcetto di Dogliani Cursalet 2009 from magnum was fantastic, and showed a well-structured combination of red fruit, earth, and a touch of bitterness. The second wine, the Cozzo Mario Dolcetto di Dogliani Vigna Pregliasco 2009, was more "gregarious," with lighter, more outgoing fruity aromas and perfume, very true to Dolcetto. What a great compare and contrast. |
